This is a private home with direct private access to the Blanco River. The setting was exactly what we were looking for - private, quiet, room for 2 families. There is a little walk downhill to the river, but there is also a partially paved private road we could have used (and would have if we had launched the canoe). We did bring a canoe, but did not use it as the water level in the river was pretty low. Good fishing however. Our trip occurred in January-Feb, so it would be prettier in the spring or summer, but the view is great! Also a dark sky area, so you can see lots of stars. The house was very nice and well maintained. Central heat and AC. Lots of rooms and beds available. The king size beds were very comfortable. The porch is huge and has several seating areas as well. The description said starter supplies would be provided, but there was enough for 4 people for a 4 day trip. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, silverware, bakeware, etc. Paper products were supplied. Soap and shampoo samples were in the bathrooms. No wi-fi, but has Dish TV and some board games. There is a woodpile and a great fire pit! We spent the evenings around a nice fire with good beverages 🙂 The upstairs bedroom has walls that do not entirely close off the room. There are openings to the interior of the house, so there was light and noise if someone was still up downstairs. We really enjoyed our stay.

Great stay for our family of 5 with teens and a dog

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dome River House. It is well-equipped and immaculately clean. We usually find some grime or a dirty dish somewhere in a short-term rental - not here! We preferred staying in a more rural setting outside Wimberley and just driving in for one afternoon to explore town and shop a bit. We also visited Jacob\'s Well and Blue Hole. We were pleased to see people generally wearing masks and being respectful of distancing - it felt very COVID-safe. We loved walking down and sitting by the river - there are chairs by the water on a flagstone patio, and it is very serene. Our dog had a great time romping in the field and going back and forth. The fire pit is great, right outside the house, and we enjoyed an evening out under the stars. The indoor wood stove fireplace was fun and very warm as well. The kitchen has every pot, pan and dish that we needed to cook and serve for our family the whole weekend. The bottled drinking water dispenser was a thoughtful touch. Note: the bedrooms upstairs - the walls don\'t go all the way to the ceiling. We had a lot of fun bouncing our voices around inside the dome, and it was not an issue for us. Just know that those bedrooms don\'t stay quiet when people are moving around downstairs. We will definitely return to Dome River House!
