Yerba at Bastrop is nestled in the quiet, historic district of Bastrop, Texas, less than a half hour from Austin. As a result, you will love your stay at this beautiful, pre-civil war, two-story historic home.  In addition, you can find Yerba at Bastrop listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Also, the home is a designated Texas Historic Landmark. Your family will be surrounded by lovely organic gardens to relax in.

When you enter the home, you’ll find natural wooden floors and large airy windows. Everyone  has a view overlooking the plants and trees below! Next, you can take a quick 5 minute walk away, the town center awaits you! You will want to explore the antique stores, live music, restaurants, and even a vinery. Finally, you’ll want to venture out on the the walking trails, fishing spots, and other water sports on the splendid Colorado River. Bastrop State Park is just over two miles away for you to enjoy with your family!

Our guests find this beautiful and spacious home is one of the oldest in Bastrop. In addition, the home was purchased by Robert and Catine Perkins in 1959. Catine was a strong proponent of historical preservation, organic gardening and preventive medicine. People would come from miles around to see her yard filled with irises, day lilies, poppies, antique roses, and culinary herbs. An extraordinary cook, she held herb classes for the young staff at Whole Foods when it first opened In Austin, as well as supplying herbs to some of the top local Austin restaurants at the time. The Perkins family is upholding their parents’ tradition and believes the peaceful charm and unique healing attributes of the property will give you a one-of-a-kind, fulfilling stay in this striking part of Texas

Interior

Inside, you’ll find a fireplace on both floors. Additionally, you can sleep upstairs in the three serene bedrooms. On top of those, there are two recently updated bathrooms. When you are ready, enjoy one bathroom with a genuine claw-foot tub with treetop views or  the other with a waterfall shower. We promise you’ll want to enjoy coffee and breakfast in the morning on the screened-in porch. Here, you’ll find great views of nature including birds and the garden’s enormous bay trees. Additionally, many guest like to relax here with a cool drink in the evening to reflect.

The dining room, living room and parlor welcome you downstairs. Next, you’ll love the kitchen! You can be inspired and craft a beautiful meal in this chef’s dream! You’ll find cast iron pots and cooking ware collected over the years by Catine Perkins, a noted organic gardener, cook and artist. Finally, you can check out the chicken coop out back for eggs and even pick out fresh herbs in the garden!
