The Salt Lick runs back to Mississippi in the mid-1800s. In 1956 Scott Thurman moved to Driftwood. One day he took out a yellow legal pad and wrote down 54 things the family could do and stay in Driftwood. The Salt lick was 14th on the list. The Salt Lick has grown from there and the Roberts family now serves mouth-watering bar-b-que to thousands each week. Now they have expanded to 35 acres of different grapes for their amazing winery.
Driftwood Estate Winery
Driftwood Estate Winery and Vineyard embodies the spirit and heart of Texas. The charming town radiates Texas pride in its production of high-quality wines made from Texas grapes. The winery sits on a bluff overlooking the Estate Vineyard and the Hill Country. The view from the bluff is spectacular. Perfect for a picnic with your favorite glass or bottle of Driftwood Estate wine.
Duchman Family Winery
The Duchman Family Winery was founded in 2004 by Drs. Lisa and Stan Duchman in a quest to bring world-class winemaking to Central Texas and the Texas Hill Country. Their love for the unique Italian grape varieties, as well as similar weather patterns to Texas, inspired them to experiment with making wines like Vermentino, Sangiovese, and Dolcetto. Duchman Family Winery remains one of the top wine destinations in Texas. The facility has been listed by HGTV as one of the 20 most picturesque wineries in the country. Pick a spot at one of the oak-shaded picnic tables, or grab a seat in the winery hallway with views of their production facilities and wine barrels.
Wimberley Valley Winery
Wimberley Valley Winery was founded in 1983, has a proud history of producing fine wines in central Texas. With a focus on quality and a wide selection to suit all palates. From special Christmas wines to seasonal fruit wines, Wimberley Valley Winery goes beyond the status quo.
Fall Creek Vineyards
Ed and Susan Auler are known as the “First Family of Texas Wines”. They helped jumpstart the rebirth of Texas winemaking in the mid 1970s when they planted their first grapes in 1975 at Tow, Texas. This began their journey to put Fall Creek Vineyards wines on the global map. They have 40 years of special memories when their wines were poured at 4 Presidential Inaugurations, State Dinners for Prince Charles, Vladimir Putin, the Premier of China, as well as for Wolfgang Puck Benefits and James Beard dinners. At Hill Country Premier our properties are located at The Fall Creek Vineyards, Wine Country Inn and is just steps away from the Fall Creek Vineyards. Once the winery and the tasting room closes, you and your guests will have the unique experience of having these beautiful gardens to yourself.
