Horseshoe Bay Texas began as a small resort idea back in 1972 when Wayne and Norman Hurd began working on their dream. Horseshoe Bay Texas continued to grow and develop along the Colorado River on lake Lyndon B. Johnson. Although originally started as a retirement resort, Horseshoe Bay Texas has become a vacation rental paradise. The name has two legendary origins:

  1. Horseshoe Creek runs through the property and the bay has a horseshoe shape
  2. The Hurd cousins found a horseshoe in the lake bed wandering the property and liked the name

Located just outside of Marble Falls, this resort-style community offers you incredible options like golf, boating, fishing, hiking and other outdoor activities. No matter which you prefer, you will have a relaxing time enjoying Horseshoe Bay.

Activities

Horseshoe Bay Lighthouse
Water Jet Pack

Horseshoe Bay Texas offers you many water activity options, many at a low cost. As a result, you can enjoy fishing, boating, kayaking, tubing and many other fun options. Ever thought of trying to water jet pack? Feel free to lift off on lake LBJ!

A definite stop needs to be the Horseshoe Bay lighthouse. This 55 foot tall structure allows you a unique view of the lake from its observation floor. You will want to check the park’s website to ensure the lighthouse is open, but if it is, you will love the view!

Food Choices

When you are out and about on the lake, your tummy may become quite empty. With that in mind, consider two of the local favorites to ‘top off your tank’!

Fornos Bar and Grill on Lake LBJ

Forno’s Bar and Grill offers a wide selection of food choices. In an upscale, but comfortable atmosphere, you’ll find all sorts of items. Our favorites are the seafood alfredo or the shrimp scampi. You definitely cannot go wrong with either of those.

Another fantastic and fun spot is On The Rocks. This restaurant and bar is situated in the perfect spot for gazing out over lake Lyndon B. Johnson. Here, you’ll find music, great food and a fun atmosphere. The ‘On The Rocks Nachos’ are definitely worth indulging on!
